Getting Fitter!

Hello everyone!

It's been nearly a week since my first post and I'm amazed at how many people have read my blog already - over 3,000 views! Thank you for all your kind messages of support.

Last week turned out to be a really good one in many ways. My physio went really well, and I could feel myself getting fitter each day. This also showed in a number of measurable ways; my oxygen requirement has gone down from 1.5 litres to 1 litre, and my heart rate has come down significantly. My chest has been feeling clearer too. I have been walking more and riding the exercise cycle in the gym at a higher resistance and speed each day. I have also started playing Wii Sports during my physio sessions.

I have also been on the oral suspension version of my main anti-fungal medication (Itraconazole), and my blood levels of this are now in a good range. This is really important, because I take it to treat the bug (Exophiala dermititidis) which has caused me problems for about 5 years, and which is the main reason behind me becoming so ill and ending up in intensive care.

On Thursday, we had the multi-disciplinary team (MDT) meeting, as planned in order to discuss my discharge. There is a lot to figure out and arrange, because there are lots of major life changes that have already taken place and will have to take place in the near future.

Love,
Harriet x x x
